ANSTED&CO. is my personal project. My day job is making wine for Tellurian in Heathcote. ANSTED&CO. is a much smaller project that gives me the opportunity to make wines that reflect a personal philosophy and to try out new ideas and take some risks. My ultimate aim is to make wines that reflect their origins: where the grapes are grown, the variety or varieties they are made from and my own sense of style. I want my wines to have intensity, complexity and harmony. My approach is to focus first and foremost on the vineyard which allows me to take a hands-off approach in the winery.
Although it's my name on the bottle there are lots of other people who have been and continue to be involved in this project. There are the people behind the vineyards where I purchase my grapes, the people who help out in the winery during vintage, Bil my wife who provides constant support and advice. There are many people who have been and continue to be involved in this project who don't have their name on the label but deserve recognition. They are the CO. that keeps the project going.
There is a lot of wine out there, a lot of really good wine. Wines that taste great and are a joy to drink. There are, though, wines out there that can transport us. Wines that say something more. These are wines that tell us where they are from. These are the wines I am trying to make.
