2009 ANSTED&CO. NORTH HARCOURT VINEYARD SYRAH
James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2013
This is a selection of the best barrels, effectively splitting the vintage into two halves of 150 dozen bottles each. This is clearly the superior wine; the colour is excellent, and although the wine enters the mouth with a fanfare of trumpets and drums, it manages to gain finesse and drive on the back-palate and finish, the flavours covering a similar spectrum to The VARIATION NO.1

2010 ANSTED&CO. NORTH HARCOURT VINEYARD SYRAH
James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2014
Purple-crimson colour signals a medium- to full-bodied wine with very good mouthfeel to its blackberry and plum fruit, the tannins fine and not diminishing the almost juicy finish. 250 dozen made.

GARY WALSH - WWW.WINEFRONT.COM.AU
Blackberry, spice, flowers, salty Dutch liquorice, gum leaf, subtle cedar oak and that kind of ozone aroma that you might get from a hard run toy train engine *ahem* which some people, though not many admittedly, may be aware of. Generous flavour delivered via a medium bodied frame. Spice, red and black fruits, fine grained tannin and saline characters, fine cranberry acidity and flavour, then a pretty long finish. Dry and sophisticated. I’m thinking 93 or 94 points here.

2012 ANSTED&CO. VARIATION NO.1 SYRAH
GARY WALSH - WWW.WINEFRONT.COM.AU
Classic medium bodied Victorian Shiraz here. It’s silky and glossy with just the right amount of fine tannin grip, lovely even acidity, flavours of plum, mixed berries, subtle gum leaf perfume, meat and peppery spice with a subtle toffeed edge. Very sure on the finish. Precise and long. The tannin brings this baby home. Impeccable, not least at the price.
